This chapter provides just a small small cross-section of the experiences of the men and women – in one case a child, in and out of uniform, of the people in this book but everyone, of course, has their own similar personal story if space allowed.
Familiar names – rather than formal ones and rank – have been used in the manner in which they are known in the community. Details of rank and service can be found in the records in previous chapters.
